Click here to view complete mounting.This is Kannon, the female bodhisattva of compassion, sitting in contemplation in the center of an enso. The enso symbolizes the world, and Kannon - who works ceaselessly for the salvation of all sentient beings - remains in calm repose deep inside regardless of the confusion and anguish all around her. She has a soft, reassuring smile that hints, "No matter how bad it seems, it will get better."
The painting is sealed "Bokuzan" and "Empty Flowers.
